WELCOME to the Eleanor Palmer Trust. We are a registered charity based in Barnet and founded in 1558.
Realising that you may need support or care can be very worrying. What sort of help do you need? Will it mean losing your home and independence, leaving your friends and family? These questions and many more will need answers. But do not worry, we are here to help and make the process so much easier for you. In fact, having made your decision you will probably find that life takes on a totally new meaning, be it in sheltered accommodation with freedom yet security of someone to help in an emergency or a residential home with 24-hour care and consideration from experienced staff to look after your every need.
Whilst the prospect is daunting and not to be undertaken without considerable thought, we hope that the Eleanor Palmer Trust can offer some solutions which will help you move on to make the right choice.
The principle activity of the Eleanor Palmer Trust is to provide accommodation either within its’ Care Home or in the form of Sheltered Housing. We pride ourselves on the quality of service we deliver to those entrusted into our care, they are the priority in everything we do.
The Trust owns and maintains a 33 bed Nursing & Residential Care Home and 78 sheltered housing properties within the area as well as offering grants under our Relief in Need Scheme. One of our key objectives within this Scheme is to assist persons, in the area of benefit, who are in need, hardship or distress.

Eleanor Palmer was a wealthy Elizabethan lady. Eleanor was born Eleanor Cheeseman and her father was an important man at Court being ‘coferer’ (treasurer) to King Henry VII and then to Henry V111. It is assumed that she was born in the 1480’s. She was originally married to a London gentleman, Edward Taylor, who died in 1509 and she had three children by him.
